Uber is set to introduce autonomous robot deliveries in the United Kingdom starting December, marking a major step in its automation strategy. The company will roll out these services through a partnership with Starship Technologies, aiming to simplify last-mile delivery and improve efficiency.
Initially, Uber Eats customers in Leeds and Sheffield will be able to receive their orders through Starship’s delivery robots. These robots will travel independently in designated zones, and according to Uber, the feature will expand to more UK regions next year.

Moreover, Uber plans to extend this technology to parts of Europe in 2026 and the United States by 2027, showing a strong commitment to automated services. The company believes that wider adoption will help reduce delivery times while lowering operational costs.
Starship Technologies’ robots can operate at Level 4 autonomy, meaning they move without human assistance within a skilled, mapped area. This level of autonomy allows them to deliver food reliably while avoiding obstacles and navigating busy neighbourhoods.

Furthermore, Uber’s new collaboration adds to its long list of automation projects, as it already works with Avride and Serve Robotics for robot deliveries in the United States.
