The Pakistan Army has secured a major international achievement after winning top honours at the International Pace Sticking Competition 2026 held at the Royal Military Academy (RMA) Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.

Representing the country, the team from the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul delivered an outstanding performance, earning first place overall and sweeping all major awards at the prestigious military event. The team won the Overall Team Trophy, while also claiming the Best Pace Sticker and Best Driver awards.

The annual competition is regarded as one of the most respected military ceremonial events, bringing together teams from leading armed forces around the world. This year’s edition featured 16 teams representing various countries, making the contest highly competitive.

The nine-member Pakistani contingent arrived in the United Kingdom on June 5 and was led by Major Haider Gulzar, Adjutant of the Pakistan Military Academy. Throughout the competition, the team demonstrated exceptional discipline, precision and coordination, outperforming participants from other militaries.

Pace sticking is a ceremonial military tradition that requires participants to display flawless marching skills, leadership, timing and command presence. The competition tests not only individual abilities but also the teamwork and professionalism of military academies and training institutions.

The Pakistan Army’s clean sweep at the event has been viewed as a reflection of the high standards of training and preparation maintained by the country’s armed forces. Military observers noted that success at international competitions helps strengthen professional ties between armed forces and showcases operational excellence on a global platform.

The victory has been welcomed as a proud moment for Pakistan, highlighting the capabilities of its military personnel in a field that demands precision, discipline and dedication. The achievement also reinforces the reputation of the Pakistan Military Academy as a leading institution for military training and leadership development.
