
LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration on Sunday kicked off a comprehensive canine vaccination campaign to immunise pets and stray dogs against rabies. The initiative was launched under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Hamidullah Khan, as part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Good Governance Framework.

Veterinary experts, alongside municipal workers, carried out vaccinations at multiple locations across all tehsils of the district. Several stray dogs were also taken to quarantine centres to ensure they were properly inoculated against the deadly disease.
Officials highlighted that the campaign benefits both animals and humans by preventing the spread of rabies and other zoonotic diseases. They stressed that widespread immunisation is crucial for public health and safety.

Special teams, comprising livestock department experts and municipal employees, have been deployed across the district to guarantee coverage of all canines, with an emphasis on reaching areas with high stray dog populations.
The administration urged residents to cooperate with the teams and ensure their pets are vaccinated to support the district-wide effort to curb rabies.
