KOHAT: Four terrorists were killed in separate operations conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Kohat and Karak districts, officials said on Friday, as law enforcement intensified actions against militant groups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Kohat’s Bazid Khel village, three militants — identified as Muhammad Qasim, Shahid, and Sahir alias Pata of the Saad alias Shah Gul group — were gunned down during a late-night exchange of fire. Officials said the men were involved in multiple attacks on police personnel, including the killing of Constable Younis on Sept 17 and a separate assault in Tor Chappar that claimed the life of Constable Bahadar. Weapons were recovered from the site.

A separate CTD operation in Karak’s Banda Daud Shah area resulted in the killing of another militant, identified as Suleman alias Akram of Kohat. According to district police, the clash erupted during an operation in a mountainous area where the militant group opened fire using light and heavy weapons. Suleman was wanted in several terrorism cases, including attacks on SNGPL installations.

Meanwhile, violence continued in Tirah valley, where an eight-year-old girl was killed after a mortar shell hit a home in Bar Qambarkhel. In another incident, eight people were injured when an explosive device dropped from a quadcopter struck a wedding ceremony in the Shalobar area. Authorities have not yet confirmed who operated the drone, though militants have been known to use such devices in the past.

In Bara, unidentified gunmen abducted an engineer and two dam workers from the Mamanrry dam area, while in Landi Kotal, a man was injured in an accidental pistol discharge. No group has claimed responsibility for the abduction so far, and investigations are under way.
