
ISLAMABAD: Investigators in the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) corruption scandal have uncovered a large-scale fraud network allegedly operated through call centers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Over 20 call centers were raided, with authorities seizing critical records, call logs, financial data, and key email correspondence. Sources indicate that two NCCIA directors, three deputy directors, and two inspectors are suspected of involvement in the scam.

The probe has revealed that personal and financial information of citizens was allegedly misused through these call centers, with funds traced through banking and mobile payment systems, including transfers abroad. Investigators have also obtained digital evidence and surveillance footage documenting the call center operations. Legal proceedings against the implicated NCCIA officials are expected to commence soon.
Amid the corruption probe, NCCIA Director General Waqar Uddin Syed has been transferred, and Syed Khurram Ali has been appointed as the new DG. Waqar Uddin Syed has been directed to report to the Establishment Division, while Khurram Ali, previously serving under the Punjab government, assumes leadership of the agency.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, a court approved a three-day physical remand for several NCCIA officers accused of accepting bribes, including Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry. The suspects have been handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for further interrogation, marking a key step in the ongoing investigation.
