KALAT – Security forces on Sunday successfully defused a 100-kilogram locally manufactured bomb in Balochistan’s Kalat district, preventing what officials said could have been a large-scale terrorist attack.
According to Levies sources, the explosive device had been planted under a bridge in Johan tehsil and was designed to cause massive destruction in the area. Acting on intelligence reports, a bomb disposal team promptly reached the site and safely neutralised the explosive before it could detonate. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace those responsible for planting the device.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Saturday, at least five people were killed and two others injured in an armed clash between rival groups in Kalat. One of the deceased was identified as Balach Khan, son of Saadullah of the Lango tribe. The injured included Nasrullah Lango and a passerby, Allah Dad Samalani.
Rescue teams and security forces reached the spot soon after the shooting, shifting the bodies and injured to a nearby hospital. Authorities are conducting separate investigations into both incidents to maintain law and order in the region.
