JI Chief slams PPP over ‘E-Challan Business’ in Karachi

Published on: November 2, 2025 12:02 PM

JI Chief Hafiz Naeem slams e-challan as PPP's 'business,' vows legal action

KARACHI – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman on Saturday accused the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) of turning the newly launched e-challan system into a “business venture.” Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Hyderi Model Market in North Nazimabad, he announced plans to approach Sindh Chief Minister to demand the system’s withdrawal.

The JI leader criticized the provincial government for its failure to provide a proper transport system to Karachi while allowing the city to be “destroyed by dug-up roads.” He alleged that both “kacha and paka robbers” had united to loot the city. Despite the challenges, he expressed hope that Karachi “will become beautiful again.”

Hafiz Naeem lamented that JI’s local representatives had been deprived of powers for over a year and a half, yet continued to serve citizens using their own resources. He added that most funds were spent on staff salaries and reiterated JI’s goal of creating jobs and facilities for youth.

JI Karachi Chief Munam Zafar Khan also took aim at Karachi Mayor, alleging corruption under the guise of public-private partnerships. He said JI chairmen were setting up model areas, markets, and schools, adding that Karachi contributed Rs 3,256 billion to the national exchequer while JI fought for people’s rights in regulatory bodies like NEPRA.
