
ISLAMABAD — The weekly inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI), increased by 0.12 percent for the combined consumption group during the week ended October 30, 2025, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The SPI for the week was recorded at 335.53 points, compared to 335.14 points in the previous week. On a year-on-year basis, the SPI showed an increase of 5.05 percent. The PBS report noted that the SPI, with base year 2015–16=100, tracks 51 essential items across 17 urban centres for different income groups.
For the lowest income group (up to Rs17,732), the SPI increased by 0.28 percent, reaching 331.18 points. Other consumption groups — Rs17,733–22,888; Rs22,889–29,517; Rs29,518–44,175; and above Rs44,175 — saw rises of 0.16 percent, 0.15 percent, 0.14 percent, and 0.08 percent, respectively.

During the week, prices of 14 items (27.45%) increased, 10 items (19.61%) decreased, while 27 items (52.94%) remained unchanged. Key items that recorded an increase in prices included onions (59.54%), eggs (3.24%), chicken (2.40%), garlic (1.72%), and wheat flour (0.36%). Meanwhile, tomatoes (47.02%), pulse gram (1.66%), pulse masoor (1.20%), and LPG (0.60%) were among the items that saw a price decline.
On a yearly basis, the highest price increases were observed in ladies sandals (55.62%), sugar (42.44%), tomatoes (31.56%), gas charges (29.85%), and onions (19.98%). Items showing a year-on-year decline included garlic (30.74%), pulse gram (29.12%), electricity charges (26.26%), and potatoes (20.07%).
