The Pakistan Navy and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted a successful joint operation on Thursday, seizing approximately 1,250 kilograms of illicit drugs valued at $38 million near the Pasni coast in Balochistan, the Navy’s media wing announced. The operation disrupted a major drug smuggling attempt through the Arabian Sea targeting international markets.
The confiscated consignment included 1,100 kg of hashish, 50 kg of crystal methamphetamine, and 100 kg of heroin. After the seizure, the narcotics were promptly handed over to the ANF to initiate further legal proceedings against the smugglers.
This operation is part of ongoing coordinated efforts between the Pakistan Navy and ANF to counter illegal drug trafficking and other unlawful activities along Pakistan’s extensive coastline. Both agencies rely heavily on intelligence-sharing and surveillance to carry out such missions.
Last year, the Pakistan Navy made a similar major seizure during a maritime security patrol in the northern Arabian Sea. Earlier, in February 2023, a joint intelligence-based counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea resulted in the confiscation of drugs worth over Rs3 billion, underscoring the persistent threat of drug smuggling in the region.
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining maritime security and protecting Pakistan’s coastal borders from criminal networks. This latest bust marks a significant blow to drug traffickers who exploit sea routes to transport narcotics to global destinations.
Officials said these ongoing operations reflect Pakistan’s resolve to uphold the rule of law and ensure safety in its territorial waters through enhanced cooperation between military and civilian law enforcement agencies.
