Sir: Indeed, flood is a natural disaster that occurs due to heavy rains and causes massive destruction because of the overflow of water. The recent torrential floods in Punjab have caused heavy losses to the people. They has caused immense casualties and devastated a large number of houses and standing crops, which is a great loss for the hapless people. Moreover, according to the National Disaster Management Authority, as many as 170 people have lost their lives and 122 sustained serious injuries during the current floods. According to the details, 512 villages and 3,153 houses have been totally damaged. No doubt these natural disasters are unstoppable but they can be controlled due to advances in science and technology that has equipped man with new techniques and ideas to take precautionary measures to avoid damage and losses. The people in a state of despair and grief need our help. Both the provincial and federal governments must take some concrete steps to help the people in need and anxiety.
