LAHORE: The city police has beefed up a security plan for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) in which thousands of police officers would be deputed to avoid any untoward incident across the provincial metropolis. Highly trained snipers on rooftops of buildings located adjacent to important public places such as mosques, government installations, buildings and offices in different parts of provincial metropolis would be deployed. The police department has additionally called the Elite Police Force, Mujahid Force, Quick Response Force along with personnel in plainclothes from other intelligence agencies for round the clock patrolling in all sensitive areas. The personnel deputed at the police stations are also directed to keep a vigilant eye on all crowded places situated in their respective jurisdictions. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains said that Lahore Police will remain on high alert in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere and harmony in the provincial metropolis on the occasion of Eid Miladul Nabi (PBUH). The CCPO directed the divisional SPs to personally check the deployment of force and patrolling of mobile squads in their respective areas, adding that he would personally make surprise inspections in order to review the security arrangements. He directed to ensure strict implementation on the security plan that has been chalked out by Lahore Police to ensure law and order on the sacred occasions of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) and Christmas, adding that more than 8,000 police officers would perform their duties on the sacred occasions. The CCPO ordered special surveillance and checking of all hotels, inns and bus and wagon stands to ward of any possibility of subversion. He further directed to make effective arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic and informed that all entry and exit points of the city would be covered. District Coordination Officer (DCO) Captain (r) Usman has said that foolproof security and other arrangements are being done on the upcoming eve of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) and cleanliness campaign has already been launched on the routes of processions. He said the patchwork on roads leading to the procession routes is being completed and streetlights would be arranged as well. He said that city would be decorated beautifully on the eve of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) and walk through gates would be installed on various spots so that security of participants could be ensured properly. “An emergency plan is being prepared to drain the water in case of rainfall.” Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said that the traffic police chalked out comprehensive traffic plan on the upcoming eve of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) and a torch-bearing rally is being conducted on the same evening to maintain traffic flow across the city. He further said more than 1,100 traffic wardens would be deputed on the city roads.
