ISLAMABAD – The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has termed Women Protection Bill passed by the Punjab Assembly against the Islamic teachings and the constitution. The 202nd meeting of CII was held under the chair of Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani. The CII members including Allama Iftikhar Ahmed Naqvi, Mufti Idrees attended the meeting. During the meeting, Maulana Sherani expressed reservations over Women Protection Bill and declared the bill against the constitution and Two-nation theory. The CII has sought a copy of the bill from Punjab Assembly after which it would accumulate recommendations regarding the law in the next meeting. According to the channel, the debate on the bill was not on the agenda of today’s meeting. The agenda items included formation of the Quran Board, abolition of interest-based system and others but these issues couldn’t be taken up.
