MARDAN: The police on Tuesday foiled a suicide bomb attack bid and killed a suicide bomber in a shootout within the city police jurisdiction in Mardan. DPO Mardan Faisal Shahzad said that a suicide bomber turned-up in the city area on a bicycle near the SHO’s car. Upon seeing him carrying a hand grenade, the police personnel gunned down him in a shootout. A suicide jacket exploded leaving 12 people, including two policemen, injured. The injured persons were rushed to DHQ Hospital and Mardan Medical College. Police recovered explosives from the bomber’s bicycle, which were defused by BDS personnel. The bomber’s identity will be ascertained after DNA tests are carried out.
