Police register FIR against Hamadullah

Published on: June 15, 2016 12:58 AM

ISLAMABAD: On the orders of Inspector General Capital Territory Tariq Masood Yasin, Islamabad Police has registered a case against JUI (F) leader Senator Hamadullah, at the Kohsar Police Station, on charges of harassing, abusing and attempting physical violence against journalist and social worker Marvi Sarmad.

But even after registering the case No 237 in PS Kohsar, the police is reluctant to arrest accused Hamadullah. The JUI (F) leader , a few days back not only abused quite vulgarly , but also tried to thump her . He also threatened her to kill her during a television talk show on June 10 (Friday).

Marvi Sarmad filed her application at the Kohsar Police Station Kohsar in which she levelled the charges on Senator Hamadullah that he tried to act violently against her and threatened to kill her in a state of anger , when she was busy in the recording of a TV show along with the accused.

The other people including PTI’s leader Faiyyazul-Hassan Chohan and Barrister Masroor and the anchor person of the programme Nadia Mirza were also present on the occasion.

“During the programme, Hafiz Hamadullah and Barrister Masroor exchanged hot words then the JUI (F) leader vented his anger on me. When he tried to slap me, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan caught him and the staff of the TV channel dragged him out of studio.

“He tried to break the door but the guard locked it and in this way I was saved ”, Sarmad mentioned in her application. After the receiving of application, the SHO told his superior the entire matter. The police issued a letter to the parliamentary committee for seeking permission to take action against Senator Hamadullah

It is pertinent to mention here that after the registration of the case against Senator Hamadullah , the government may also face some difficulties as the JUI (F) is in alliance with PML(N).

The police is also trying to get the statements of eyewitnesses including Fayyazul-Hassan Chohan, Barrister Masroor and Nadia Mirza.
