Published on: June 15, 2016 1:17 AM

ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry has issued a notification about the metropolitan government in Islamabad besides giving indication for issuance of a separate notification about functions to be transferred to the ICT Metropolitan Corporation and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) within a few days.

The ICT Metropolitan Corporation will start functioning soon after issuance of the notification about distribution of departments.

The issuance of notification has sent a wave of embarrassment and fear among the Nazmeens of one group comprising the Qabza mafia and criminals. They are taking refuge under the umbrella of PML-N.

According to information available with Daily Times, Mayor Islamabad Ansar Aziz Sheikh had made a disclosure in a private meeting a day before that he knew well who were blocking the issuance of the notification. Those who don’t want to serve the people were a big impediment on the way to issuance of the notification. However all their conspiracies would be thwarted.

On the other side Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is pinning high hopes on the Mayor Islamabad hoping that the metropolitan government will get Islamabad liberated from the Qabza mafia and tighten a noose around the necks of criminals.

The Chairman of One Union Council (UC) told Daily Times that three PML-N groups were working in Islamabad at present which were using powers to let down each other. The projects which were to be announced by the Mayor Islamabad had already been announced by a group of PML-N at a small function.

But the Mayor Islamabad is determined to launch an operation indiscriminately against the Qabza group and the land mafia and he would not back out from this commitment.

According to information received by Daily Times 23 directorates will be transferred to the Metropolitan government. They include Directorate of Health Services, Cares 112, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Sports and Culture, Capital Hospital, CDA Model School, Coordination, Public Relations, Security and IT Management (Administration), MQC and CE lab, G and H lab, Bulk water management, Water and Sewerage (Dev), M and RM directorate, Water supply directorate, sewerage treatment plant, Machinery pool organization (Engineering), Environment (East), Environment (Urban/West), Sanitation, E and DM (Environment) and Head of Treasury (Finance).

The functions to be retained by the CDA include Director staff, secretary CDA Board, Training academy, planning and design, Urban planning, Building control, Regional planning, Housing Societies (Administration), Works, Quantity Survey, Programme and Evaluation, Special projects,, sector development (Civil), sector development ( E and M), project sector I-15, Special project, (Bari Imam), coordination (Parliament House), E and M (Dev), Aiwan-e-Sadr, Parliament lodges and hostel (Engineering), zoo and wildlife management (West), Estate Management (Commercial), Land and Rehabilitation,, Sr Special magistrate (Environment) and procurement and contracts (Finance).

Sources told Daily Times that all the UC chairmen from PTI have assured the Mayor of full support in beautifying the capital and initiating action against the land mafia

On the other side the third faction of PML-N has evolved a list of illegal occupants belonging to the ruling party and assured the mayor of support if any action was taken against the Qabza group from PML-N.
