Dapper men who dress to beat the heat

Published on: June 23, 2016 10:26 PM

Between the men’s shows in Milan and Paris and the tennis in Wimbledon, to say nothing of all the high profile weddings, there are a lot of social events on the calendar this month.

Let’s face it, a lot of guys don’t know how to dress for the heat. Shorts and sandals are a big no-no, for this editor, at least. But who wants to cook in a three-piece suit?

Thankfully, the rules for guys have evolved since the likes of former football player David Beckham, tennis player Roger Federer, and hip hop recording artist and rapper Kanye West entered the fashion sphere. Boys can now wear head-to-toe white with their Yeezys, kit themselves out in jeans and tees and get away with it, and enjoy sporting endeavours while still appearing runway-ready. Here, we take a look at some of Hollywood’s most dapper dudes and break down the secrets behind their winning looks.

Kanye West and his wife have made an art form out of monochromatic dressing. Look to Yeezy for how to do head-to-toe white while still keeping things cool.

If a dressier look is called for, suit up like David Beckham and score in classic white and navy.

Look like a grand slam in shades of white with metallic pops à la Roger Federer.

Sean Combs – the ultimate Bad Boy shows how to pull off light-wash denim in a modern way!

Justin Bieber – offset your ripped jeans like the Purpose singer does with a grandpa cardigan and youthful tee!

Going sans tie like retired basketball player Michael Jordan does not mean that sloppiness rules.

Daniel Craig – even Bond wears jeans. Just remember, keep the palette dark and uniform!

Nothing beats the importance of a good tailor. Actor and singer Jared Leto’s fitted blazer looks great with a casual henley.

Idris Elba – the ultimate airport uniform for gents is as straightforward as a perfectly fit tee and jeans with classic footwear! Tom Hiddleston – take a cue from the ‘The Night Manager’ star and keep tones similar for a look that will impress upon arrival! Eddie Redmayne – to the chino lovers out there, pull a James Dean and pair your khakis with a white T-shirt and cool Converse! Alexander Skarsgård – the shirt might be formal, but keeping it undone and untucked will add a sense of ease! Tarzan’s winning touch here is the classic, white soles.

Wiz Khalifa – never be afraid to try out a new colour! The easiest way is to do it is by pairing your brights with neutral tones in black or white.
