ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly for Human Rights has decided to contact the Indian High Commission on the matter of illicit transplantation of human organs and the Indian authorities would be asked not to issue visas without a through investigation.
The committee met on Friday here at the Parliament House with its convener Babar Nawaz Khan in the chair. The committee said that the aim of contacting the Indian High Commissioner was to safeguard those who sell their body parts due to some restraints.
The Capital Administration and Development Division(CAAD)’s representatives told the committee that the Federal Shariat Court in its decision had declared the donation of human organs lawful.
“But the implementation on the law regarding donation of human organs may take five to eight years”, they added.
The chairman of the committee told the members that soon the committee would visit different jails in the country to review the condition of children prisoners especially the quality of food and menu which was being served to them in the jails would be examined.
The committee also decided on a legislation to stop bonded child labour, exploitation of children, and minor begging.
The eunuch leader Shazia was invited as a special case in the meeting to get a firsthand knowledge of the eunuchs’ problems. Shazia told the committee that awfully weird words like ‘Khusra’ and ‘Hijra’ were used for them in the society , which was extremely shocking.
Shazia suggested that the word “Morat” be used for them instead of calling them with odd names. The committee on the request of the eunuch leader, recommended that the people belonging to the third sex should be called “Morat”.
