ISLAMABAD: PPP Secretary General Latif Khosa has said his party will file a reference against Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif in the NAB two weeks after Eidul Fitr and if the NAB takes no action against him then the PPP will resort to courts. In his exclusive chat with Daily Times he said the meeting of the four-member legal committee of the PPP would be convened after Eid to review all the evidence in connection with filing a reference against the PM in the NAB. A strategy would be evolved in this regard. But it was a settled matter that the PPP would go to the NAB against the PM. Then the law should take its course. He also said that it was a legal and constitutional obligation of the NAB to take action on the PPP reference and if it did not take any action against the PM then the party would approach courts. He went on to say that the Election Commission (EC) can disqualify but cannot convict anyone. NAB forum is meant for conviction. NAB will conduct a prosecution against the PM and will provide evidence against the PM in the court and then the court will convict him. The NAB ordinance is in place in this regard. He added that the PPP believed in the rule of law and no one would be allowed to backtrack from it. Nawaz Sharif and his family had looted public wealth and they would have to render an account of it, he stressed. The PPP was not ready to accept any offer on this count, he added. “Nawaz Sharif is a businessman and he goes for bargaining on every matter. But we are not businessmen and we are not ready to make any compromise. Whatsoever offer comes from him we will not accept it”, he remarked.
