KARACHI: Rangers on Tuesday arrested a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) coordination committee on Tuesday. The arrested was named as Izhar Ahmed Khan. According to details, Khan has been arrested from Federal B. Area in Karachi where he was visiting another party member. Senior MQM leaders have also confirmed that Rangers had taken MQM’s Khan into their custody from the residence of another coordination committee member Abdul Haseeb in Federal B. Area. After the arrest, he was been shifted to an unknown location. Meanwhile, in another development in the murder of KESC’s Shahid Hamid, Minhaj Qazi, a culprit involved in the assassination, stated while recording his confessional statement that he killed Hamid on the orders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief. Qazi stated that he also served as the party’s event in-charge and joined MQM’s militant wing later on. Minhaj Qazi said that he was informed by Saulat Mirza that he (Mirza) received a call from MQM leader Nadeem Nusrat who ordered him to murder Shahid Hamid. According to Qazi’s confessional statement, he fired at former Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Managing Director (MD) Shahid Hamid’s car using a Kalashnikov.
