‘Sultan’ — Salman Khan’s best performance till date

Published on: July 15, 2016 11:30 PM

‘Sultan’ is a Yash Raj banner movie starring actors and producers Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles.

Sultan is an Indian Muslim living in Punjab, and is a non serious fellow, always looking for pranks and has no ambition in life. One day, he sees the beautiful Arfa and instantly falls in love. Arfa is born and bred in a house of wrestlers and herself is an accomplished state champion and has a single ambition in life to bring a gold medal from Olympics for India. At first, she ignores Sultan, but eventually they become friends. One day, she comes to know that Sultan has told everyone that she is his girlfriend. Enraged, she insults him. That day onwards, Sultan, who has taken the insult to heart, makes up his mind to become a renowned wrestler. He works hard day and night and eventually becomes an unbeaten state champion, and challenges an opponent double his size, a match which he ends up winning. Consequently, he becomes a part of the Indian Wrestling Team.

Arfa apologises and declared her love for him and the couple gets married. One by one, the both of them couple start winning medals for the country, representing India in all international wrestling tournaments.

Finally the day comes when they get an invitation for Olympics but Arfa finds out she’s pregnant and her dream to become an Olympiad is gone forever. She compromises with the situation while Sultan becomes the Olympic Champion in his category.

One can say it’s one of the best performances ever given by Salman Khan. The whole movement in India to empower women and to believe that women are the ones who will contribute towards growth and development; it might take a longer time for achieving gender equality but it’s an eye opener for men as how women can be strong, focused, ambitious and work towards their set goals and if encouraged and backed will transform the community, the states and finally the whole country.

It’s a must watch movie, not to be missed at all! Just make sure you make an advance booking, otherwise you might end up in the front row like me. People are indeed queuing up to see ‘Sultan’ in theatres. It’s an action-packed movie with a beautiful and a cute love story and Anushka Sharma has done justice to her role as well.
