Claudio Ranieri’s plans for Mahrez and Leicester city

Leicester city’s manager Claudio Ranieri’s expects Riyad Mahrez to stay at the club for the following season as he believes that Mahrez will play a vital role in defending Leicester premier league title in the 2016-17 season.

Ranieri wants to keep Mahrez as he has lost N’Golo Kante who was sold to Chelsea for a sum of £29.2 million and may lose Jamie Vardy who is targeted by arsenal.

When Leicester city’s captain Wes Morgan signed a new contract for the foxes, Ranieri said in quotes appearing in daily mail “I am pleased to sign Wes and I think slowly, slowly the rest will sign”.

Ranieri also said “The football would continue without Mahrez, without Kante, but Mahrez will stay with us for all the years. I am confident. No other players will go. We stay together.”

Ranieri wished Kante farewell after Leicester’s match against oxford united which Leicester won 2-1, ranieri was reported saying “He came from a little team in France and made a fantastic season. I wanted him to stay with us for another year. He would improve with the experience of the Champions League but he wanted to go. OK, good luck. I don’t want unhappy players.”

Another setback for Leicester is that Steve Walsh who is the assistant manager and head of recruitment has been reported to leave Leicester and join Everton as their sporting director, he was responsible for the signing of Mahrez and Kante.

Leicester start their season with the community shield against Manchester united on 7th August and their premier league season on 13th august.
