ISLAMABAD: A private training centre, Safety First Institute (SFI), has allegedly pocketed millions of rupees from students by using the name of a renowned British institute. According to sources, Safety First Institute , which is situated in Blue Area of Islamabad, claimed affiliation with Nebosh (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, a well-known institute of England, and took millions of rupees from hundreds of students from different cities of the country. The affected students have approached the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) for justice. The institute issued fake certificates to students. SFI had introduced many courses to attract students, including those on managing safety, working safety, fire safety, safety and security first aid, risk management affairs and safety advisors. The centre collected millions of rupees from the students against the promise of jobs in foreign countries. Daily Times contacted Nebosh over the scam, but it said it had no connection with SFI. The affected students say SFI management is demanding more money to issue them their certificates. Daily Times contacted Safety First Institute supervisor Madiha Ali, who confessed that SFI was affiliated with Nebosh before, but now it has no affiliation with it. Zarqa, another member of SFI, admitted that it the firm conducts examination through a third party, but now it has no affiliation with Nebosh. SFI has campuses in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
