ISLAMABAD: Senior Islamabad policeman AIG Aashir Hamid has been found dead at his residence in Police Lines. Hameed was transferred to Islamabad Police in October last year and was serving as additional inspector general operations and establishment. After being posting to Islamabad, he stayed in room No 36 of MNA Hostel in the beginning after which he was allotted official accommodation in luxury rooms in Police Lines. Police said he used to go Lahore to meet his family every Friday, but on Friday he was found dead in his room. Police sources disclosed he was bleeding from his mouth and nose. His death is for now being termed natural, but the real cause would be determined after post-mortem. Sources said Hamid was bogged down in some office affairs. Some months ago his brother had died due to cardiac failure and he was very depressed since then. IG Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin had recently transferred him to Quetta, but he was not willing to relinquish his charge due to reason he was in mental tension. Before his transfer to Islamabad Hamid was working as SSP (Investigation) in Faisalabad Region, from where he was transferred to Punjab Investigation Branch Lahore in July 2012. Afterwards he was transferred to Islamabad. The luxury rooms were construed many years ago at Police Lines for officers living alone, whereas eight newly constructed bungalows are reserved for the officers living with their. Sources have said that Hamid might have suffered a brain haemorrhage. According to media reports he was shot dead, however police has not confirmed this.
