ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Human Rights Kamran Michael on Thursday said that legislation about honour killing is in process and soon a bill would be presented in Parliament. In reply to a question raised by MNA Ayesha Syed about honour killing in the country and lack of concerned laws during, the human rights minister informed the house that work is in progress to introduce changes in the laws and will present Women Bill in the next session of Parliament in order to protect and strengthen the women. He further said that Government is also working for a law about killing equipment in order to bring culprits to task. He also stated that events would be organized round the country to create aware regarding women rights besides create a congenial atmosphere. Replying to another query about a prisoner in a Karachi jail, he said that every possible medical facility would be provided if any imprisoned needs treatment. MNA Shakila Nauman raised a question about unhygienic and expensive food at hotels of highways, on which Sheikh Aftab informed the house that National Highway Authority (NHA) doesn’t controls hotels as they fall under the domain of local government and they are responsible for price and quality control. He also informed the house that Motorway Police has the capacity to check speed of vehicles at night, adding that overloaded vehicles are not fined. He clarified that overloaded vehicles are only asked to shift extra weight on additional vans. He also said that special teams have been constituted to check quality control of edibles, adding that provincial government along with the federal government remain vigilant about quality of the daily routine things. He said that there is a developed system to store fruit for long time while fruit juices factories are also check on regular basis. In reply to a question of Malik Abdul Ghafar Dogar about construction of Multan Motorway section, Sheikh Aftab said that a team inspected the surrounding areas of the motorway and they concluded that construction of motorway didn’t damage any service road. He further said that PC-1 for construction of double carriage road of Rajanpur-Dera Ghazi Khan would be approved soon. Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Rs 6944 million is payable to PSO in the head of LNG and SNGPL supply. He further said that in past monthly payments were made to IPPs but now they are being paid on fortnightly basis. He said a small amount is paid by Gas Company while remaining amount is paid by the provincial governments wherever natural gas is supplied. He said there is a backlog of 1.5 gas-million meters in Sui Northern as 0.3 million meters were installed last year. He said entire country is facing shortage of gas, adding that government is spending Rs 55 million to provide gas supply to some parts of Baluchistan, more than any province. The minister informed the house that shortage of gas will be overcome with import of LNG. All gas plants were out of order when they came into power but now all suppliers are working and gas supply is functional without any delay.
