ISLAMABAD: The federation has also adopted the model of education system put in place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and a stringent monitoring system, in respect of educational institutions in the federal capital, has been evolved.

Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has set up a monitoring team to oversee the matters in 422 educational institutes, operating under the federation. This team will unearth ghost schools and teachers in Islamabad.

The monitoring team comprises 22 inspectors and is equipped with state of the art transport system. The team has started conducting raids on the educational institutions in Islamabad.

A software has also been developed for monitoring and the team will be accountable to the PM through this software .

Monitoring inspectors will review the attendance, facilities and performance of the principals of colleges and schools and teachers working therein. These inspectors have been empowered to take disciplinary action against the principals and teachers. It will be binding on teams to feed their selfies with the principals to the software immediately during their visit.

These teams paid a surprise visit to 24 schools in the federal capital and checked the attendance of the teachers. They asked for the reason of their absence and the poor performance of absent teachers and checked the overall performance of the school.

The team also checked the record of all teachers from the principal so that ghost teachers could be detected.

The monitoring committee consists of three members including the Advisor CADD, the director Admn and the DG FDE and 22 raiding inspectors will also work under this committee. TA/DA at the rate of Rs 10 per kilometre will also be paid to each of these inspectors.

The Punjab IT department has imparted training to these inspectors. The reports of these teams will be reviewed on day to day and a monthly basis to determine which school is showing an overall good performance and which school outpaces others in the perspective of discipline.

The committee is aimed at raising the standard of education. The secretary education told Daily Times that the committee had been constituted in pursuance of the directives of the PM and it has started working on a regular basis.

It will improve the quality of education in educational institutions in the federal capital.
