ISLAMABAD: Under the Prime Minister Fee Reimbursement Scheme for Less Developed Areas, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has reimbursed fee to the tune of Rs 5 billion to 108,036 students from less developed areas during the last four years.
Among them 78,349 post-graduate, 25,333 MPhil and 4,354 are Phd students.
According to documents available with Daily Times, the beneficiaries from less developed areas of Balochistan include 15,605 master degree holders, 5,441 MPhil and MS and 328 Phd students.
About 22,248 students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA were reimbursed fee. The beneficiaries include 15,130 master degree holders, 6,143 MPhil and MS and 975 Phd students. In Sindh, fee was reimbursed to 14,610 students.
As many as 33,425 students including 25,461 master degree holders, 6,781 M Phil, MS and 1,183 Phd students were reimbursed fee in Punjab. About 844 Phd students from federal capital availed this scheme. 10,777 students from AJK including 7,863 master degree holders, 2,646 MPhil and MS and 268 Phd students were reimbursed fee.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, overall 4,758 students including 4,487 master degree holders, 199 MPhil and 72 Phd students were reimbursed fee under the scheme.
