KARACHI: A protest rally by members, workers and activists of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) demanded to arrest of killers of JUI-F leader Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro and their trial held by military court. Police sealed the course with containers starting from Numaish Chowrangi via Tibet Center, Sadar to the Chief Minister House on Thursday causing severe traffic jams along the route
The rally led by Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro & Maulana Nasir Mehmood Soomro, sons of slain leader accompanied by hundreds and thousands of activists marched from Namaish Chowrangi, staged a sit-in, demanding the immediate arrest of the killers of Dr Khalid Soomro who was shot dead during the Fajr prayer by armed men in a mosque in Sukkur in November 2014.
JUI-F leaders have said that the Sindh government was not taking concrete steps to arrest the killers. Protest will continue until official an letter of the formation of military courts after the arrest of Dr Soomro’s killers. The participants of rally dispersed later.
Earlier, ex- Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah had assured JUI-F leaders in 2015 that the case would be sent to the military court.
