PTI ‘proves’ rigging in Vehari by-election

Published on: September 5, 2016 11:03 PM

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ch Muhammad Sarwar on Monday presented the video proofs of rigging and demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to file cases against the people involved in the menace in PP-232 Vehari by-election. “If the ECP does not register cases against the people, PTI will proceed to Lahore High Court,” he warned. While addressing a press conference, Sarwar alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Yousaf Kaseela and returning officer Amir Javed were de-sealing the polling bags, changing and re-packing the results, as shown in the video. PTI candidate from Vehari Ayesha Nazir Jutt, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, Samsam Bukhari and a large number of the PTI workers were also present on the occasion. Ayesha Nazir said that no body was taking notice of rigging even after presentation of clear evidences, adding that the PTI workers were also threatened by the ruling party before the by-election. She said that the returning officer was involved in rigging, as no action had been taken on PTI’s application for recounting, adding that the district management announced the victory of PML-N only after counting the results of 70 polling station while dozens of forms were still had not received. The PTI candidate said PML-N has also bribed millions in the form of Benazir Income Support Programme and managed to rig the election in three phases. “Now it was the responsibility of the ECP to take notice of the people involved in damaging the process of democracy,” she added.
