The Government of Pakistan had announced the closure of all public and private educational institutions to avoid the spread of coronavirus. In this regard UMT management had decided to take extra measures to conduct 120 concurrent online class sessions w.e.f 16th March 2020to complete remaining course work of the semester after the closure of universities. President UMT Ibrahim Hassan Murad expressed that UMT is a leading university in online quality education. As within a matter of days, the UMT-CONNECTED department along with the help of UMT’s Information Technology teams managed to train over 900..+ full-time and visiting faculty members from UMT Lahore and Sialkot campus. He appreciated UMT esteemed faculty who are playing an integral role in providing online quality education to 25,000 UMT eagles powering up over 2,700 courses. This act will also promote national economic competitiveness and development of the digital education system in Pakistan; he added. Furthermore President UMT told UMT is providing resources for UMTians as well as any university that wants to go online or is searching any open teaching and learning resources or technologies. Ibrahim Murad also shed light on internet connectivity issue in the far-flung areas. He suggested that government should take extra measures to provide free internet facility across the Pakistan for improving the quality of online classes.
