LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Friday, adjourning hearing of a suo motu notice over sale of substandard milk, mineral water, poultry feed and use of injections for enhancing milk in animals, directed Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to take strict action against sale of substandard milk. A two-member bench, headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, passed the orders while hearing the matter at Supreme Court Lahore Registry. During the hearing, PFA Director Operations Ayesha Mumtaz submitted that the authority was taking action against sale of adulterated milk and other products. She pointed out that the PFA recently sealed two dried milk factories –Premier and Millac foods– over violations of the law and their matter was being pending before the Lahore High Court (LHC). She said two laboratories were available to check the standard of food whereas two more state-of-the-art laboratories would be ready by 2018.
