Veteran comedian Amanullah passed away in a private hospital in Lahore on Friday, family sources confirmed. According to the veteran comedian’s family, he was suffering from lung and kidney diseases since a while and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. Born in 1950, Amanullah is regarded as one of the best television standup comedians. He has a world record of 860-day night theater plays and also received Pride of Performance award. He had appeared in several late night shows on different TV channels. Before his death, he was working with a private channel’s program Khabarzar. Actor and director Sarmad Khoosat took to Twitter to express his sadness upon hearing the news. “He wasn’t just an artist par excellence, he was an intellectual in the truest sense. A man with a witty and a beautiful mind. We will miss you,” he wrote. ‘Ghareeb da baal raat nu chun vull mooh kar kay nuhssii jaanda aye tay kehnda aye O vekh Ammi chun meray naal nuhssdaa jay. O khadoneyaan layee ronda naee.’ I was sitting in the audience and although I was really young then, I remember, very clearly, how much this line moved me. — Sarmad Khoosat (@KhoosatSarmad) March 6, 2020 Sohail Ahmad one of his fellow comedian has also confirmed his death and expressed deep grief over the death of prominent stage actor and comedian.
