Three Pakistani students diagnosed with coronavirus in China cured

Published on: February 13, 2020 7:02 AM

The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan on Wednesday announced that the three Pakistanis who had been diagnosed with the coronavirus in the country have been cured.

“We are pleased to learn that three Pakistani citizens affected by coronavirus in China have been cured and discharged from hospitals in Guangzhou and Shenzhen of Guangdong province,” the Chinese embassy in Pakistan tweeted. “All the best to them! Thank you, medical team in China,” it added.

Last month, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza had announced that four Pakistani students in China were tested positive for coronavirus. “The government will take good care of the students who have contracted the virus,” he had said at a press conference in Islamabad at that time. Dr Mirza had said on January 29 that the students had either travelled to Wuhan or had come in contact with someone from the city.

Over 500 Pakistani students are currently in Wuhan. The city has been put under lockdown by the Chinese government. The death toll from China’s coronavirus epidemic climbed past 1,100 on Wednesday but the number of new cases fell for a second straight day.
