PESHAWAR: Paramedics’ staff of the People Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) has demanded of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvaiz Khattak, Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai and all the provincial members of KP assembly to regularize them on their concerned posts. They threatened that if their demands were not met at the earliest they along with their family members would stage protest sit-in outside Chief Minister House and also in front of provincial assembly building while the protest would be continue until acceptance of their demands. Addressing a press conference here at press club on Tuesday, Arshad Ali, serving his duty as a medical technician in district Upper Dir informed that around 2200 staff of 17 different district of KP had been recruited for the PPHI project in September 2007 and performing their duties with letter and spirit for the past more than 10 years. He said that the staff including medical technician, Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) and class-IV employees had been serving their duties on sanctioned posts of KP health and finance department through Basic Pay Scale (BPS) policy since their appointment. “We have filed a writ petition in Peshawar High Court (PHC) in 2009 for our regularization and the court have given verdict in our favour but still we are not regularized on our posts”, he lamented and said that the KP Government had stopped funds to PPHI project. Flanked by Sami-ur-Rahman, Wasai Ullah, Imran Ali Khan, Naeem Ullah, Ehsan Ullah, Shahid Ali, Noor Zaman and others he said that they had received notices on the last September 30 of their termination. “We have served our duties in different parts of the province and with our hard work made functional the Basic Health Units (BHUs) in far flung areas but now the provincial government deprive us from our basic rights” he expressed concerns. They demanded of the KP government to issue orders of their regularization on their prolonged experienced base and save them from overage apprehension otherwise all the 2200 PPHI staff would launch a protest sit-in against the KP Government and the whole responsibility would be rest on the provincial government.
