Govt committed to improve living standard of people, says BuzdarPunjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the government is taking practical measures to improving the living standards of the people of the province.

Reforms are being introduced in the public departments and institutions according to the modern demands and our initiatives will yield far-reaching and positive results, he said, adding that Punjab is being changed and will emerge as an exemplary province in this journey of change. The culture of spending national exchequer for personal use has been eliminated, he said, adding that former rulers had spent national resources for their personal show-off and projection.

“The public offices are now adopting the culture of austerity. Under this campaign expenses of CM Office have been reduced by 60%,” he said. “The PTI government has laid the foundation of corruption-free and justice for all society in the province. Mega corruption scandals surfaced during the previous regimes. Menace of corruption will be curbed from Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he added.

Meanwhile, a delegation led by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam, here on Sunday. Matters regarding mutual interest, extending cooperation between Punjab and Balochistan in different sectors as well as measures taken for promoting inter-provincial harmony came under discussion during the meeting.

Both the chief ministers reiterated to serve the people with new zeal and zest in the New Year. Both the chief ministers agreed to counter all the problems and remove all the hurdles blocking the path of public service. Those who are hatching conspiracies were failed in the past and will meet the failure in future as well. Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar while talking on this occasion said that those elemenst who are criticizing are actually afraid of the progress of Pakistan and prosperity of its people. Both the provinces will move ahead jointly in the journey of progress and prosperity of new Pakistan. Punjab government will extend all-out cooperation in the development of Baluchistan and prosperity of Balochi people.

Usman Buzdar said he cherishes the progress and prosperity of Balochi people in the same manner as he cherished the progress and development of people of Punjab. He said the development of Pakistan is linked with the development of Baluchistan. He further maintained the special quota has been fixed for the Balochi students in the education institutions of Punjab besides providing stipends them for higher education.

Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Home Minister Baluchistan Mir Zia Lango, Education Minister Muhammad Bakhash Lehri, Revenue Minister Saleem Khosa and others were included in the delegation. Provincial Minister Fayaz-ul-Hassan Chohan was also present.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Sunday vowed to set up a university in every district of Punjab. “We will set up a university in each district of Punjab and varsity of global standards in every division,” the chief minister said in a Twitter statement.

The incumbent government after assuming office worked on bringing reforms to the existing universities, he said, adding that a total of 16 vice-chancellors and top management of various universities were appointed on merit, new courses designed and the exam system improved.

Usman Buzdar said work on eight universities has already begun this year and their basic necessities have been met. Among them are Kohsar University Murree, Rawalpindi University, North Punjab University Chakwal, Thal University Bakhar, Mianwali, Baba Guru Nanak University, South Punjab University Layyah, and IT University Rawalpindi, he added.
