KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken a decision on Friday with regards to the closing timings of marriage halls, super markets, and shops. He took this decision while presiding over a meeting here at the CM, which was attended by Minister for Industries Manzoor Wassan, Advisor to CM on Labour Saeed Ghani, Law advisor Murtaza Wahab, Additional Chief Secretary (Dev) Mohammad Waseem, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Maher, Commissioner Karachi, DIGs and deputy commissioners. The chief minister decided that the marriage halls have to finish their functions by 10 pm and only one dish (rice, roti and nan with salad and sweet dish) would be served from November 01, 2016. “This is an austerity programme and I am going to start it myself. I won’t attend the functions where more than one dishes would be served,” he said. The chief minister after consulting the participants of the meeting fixed November 1stas the deadline in this regard. He directed Commissioner Karachi to talk to the owners of the marriage halls and convince them. “This would not affect their business but this is in the interest of everyone,” he said. The CM also fixed 7pm as the closing times for markets, malls, and shops. “I have no issue how early they open markets/shops but the closing time is 7pm,” he said, adding that it is an attempt to rationalize the business hours. He directed Commissioner Karachi Aijaz Ali Khan to hold meetings with the associations/owners of markets and convince them to follow this decision. Syed Murad Ali Shah said people would find lots of benefits by following these decisions. He also directed Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Maher to support the divisional and district administrations of the city regarding the implementation of the decision.
