Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that a vigorous and effective campaign will be launched against corruption. In a statement issued on Monday, he said that we will neither do corruption nor allow anyone to do it. Usman Buzdar while addressing during the launching ceremony of Punjab Corruption Complaint App of Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment held at Prime Minister Office Islamabad said that we are fully determined to eradicate corruption in Punjab. Accountability and justice is the fundamental agenda of PTI and no society can prosper without ensuring accountability and justice. We will abide by the agenda of doing accountability and providing justice, he asserted. The launching of Punjab Corruption Complaint App will prove to usher a new era for the eradication of corruption in Punjab and we are also determined to eliminate corruption as well, he maintained. With the help of corruption complaint app, citizens can upload online video, pictures and complaints by sitting at their homes and can also inquire about status of their complaints through tracking system. Fruitful results are coming to surface after undertaking effective campaign being launched for uprooting corruption and other malpractices. In a very short span of time land amounting to Rs132 billion has been retrieved from land grabbers. Rs4.75 billion have been recovered, more than 2000 persons have been arrested, 32 thousand complaints have been redressed and ten thousand inquires have been completed. There is no precedence of such exemplary performance in such a brief period of time, he emphasized. Usman Buzdar appealed to the general public that they should come forward for rooting out corruption and play their effective role in this regard. Human Rights Day: Sardar Usman Buzdar said that Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has given an everlasting message of human rights for the whole humanity. In his message issued here on Monday, the chief minister said that Islam is the torchbearer of human rights. It is, however, regretted that humanity is facing misery in Indian Occupied Kashmir and grave human rights violations against oppressed Kashmiris have not been stopped even after the passage of 128 days. He emphasized that the international community will have to be awakened against continued human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir. The whole of humanity is ashamed over the worst Indian cruelties in Occupied Kashmir, he added. The blatant human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir are a test case for the international community. Protection of human rights is the conspicuous identity of the civilized world; and societies that do not honour human rights, lose their identity. Every state is duty-bound to protect the fundamental rights of the citizens and societal norms of tolerance, forgiveness and broadmindedness strengthen human rights at the grassroots, he said. Usman Buzdar said that all the citizens enjoy equal rights under the constitution of Pakistan. The Punjab government has taken practical steps to safeguard the fundamental rights of the citizens. Solid steps have been taken for the provision of justice, protection of religious freedom and elimination of bonded labour in the society. Today, we should reiterate the commitment to ensure the protection of human rights of every citizen, concluded the chief minister. Meanwhile, Buzdar called the cabinet meeting today (Tuesday) at 11am at the committee room of CM Office to ponder over 25-point agenda. He also directed to provide best healthcare facilities to the injured of a road accident between train and truck near Sargodha. He extended sympathies over the death of an assistant train driver and sought a report about the accident from the administration. Separately, on the direction of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the meeting of the provincial taskforce for the eradication of polio was held at CM Office on Monday. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Murad Raas, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries and representatives of WHO, UNICEF, Rotary International and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Divisional Commissioners, DCs and CEOs (Health) participated through video link. The meeting held a detailed review of anti-polio steps and the future roadmap. Murad Raas and Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan presented proposals to make the anti-polio campaign a success. Chief Secretary Maj. (R) Azam Suleman also issued instructions to the administration in this regard. The meeting decided to continue anti-polio efforts along with effective monitoring of anti-polio and vaccination campaign in the districts. The Deputy Commissioners will constitute special teams for the monitoring of anti-polio and vaccination campaign. Heroes and notable personalities will also take part in this campaign. The meeting decided to include elected representatives, bedsides giving preference to local persons in anti-polio vaccination teams. It was also decided to launch three special anti-polio campaigns in Punjab from December to April. The importance of the anti-polio campaign will be highlighted in the Friday sermons. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that elimination of polio disease is a national obligation as children are our collective future. Participation of the local community in the anti-polio campaign will bear positive results, he said. He said that audit of achievements of anti-polio campaign targets will be held and made it clear that lip-service will not work. He directed to compile data according to ground realities and disclosed that this data would be analysed after the culmination of the campaign. The Chief Secretary directed that DC and DPO should jointly hold meetings in their district and complete security should be provided to the anti-polio teams. The commissioners should also personally monitor anti-polio measures taken in their divisions, he added. He said that district administration and the teams achieving targets in anti-polio and vaccination campaign will be encouraged. There is no room for any leniency in this regard, he added. The DCs will be responsible for anti-polio steps in their districts and they should give the required results in this regard. He directed that the students enrolled in private schools should be administered anti-polio drops. The children coming to Punjab from other provinces should also be administered anti-polio drops and a vigorous awareness campaign should be launched, he added. Secretary Primary & Secondary Health informed the meeting that more than one lac and 13 thousand workers will take part in the anti-polio campaign in Punjab and added that no one has the right to deny administration of anti-polio drops to the children. Special attention is being paid to high-risk union councils, he added.
