PPP celebrates 52nd Foundation Day

Published on: November 30, 2019 12:24 PM

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is all set to celebrate 52nd Foundation Day today (Nov 30) with commitment to the ideology for which the leadership and workers sacrificed their lives.

The main function of the 52nd Foundation Day of PPP will be held in Muzaffarabad in which delegates from all the provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan will participate. Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reiterated his commitment to the ideals of the Party’s founding principles for constitutionalism, rule of law, democracy and equality.

In his message on the eve of PPP’s 52nd Foundation Day, being celebrated at Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday, the PPP Chairman pointed out that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had stood shoulder to shoulder with disenfranchised Haris, students, intellectuals, artists and the marginalized to empower them.

The PPP (Pakistan Peoples party) was launched at its founding convention held in Lahore on November 30 and December 1, 1967. At the same meeting, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was elected as its chairman. Among the expressed goals of the party were the establishment of an “egalitarian democracy” and the “application of socialistic ideas to realize economic and social justice”. A more immediate task was the struggle against the dictatorship of General Ayub Khan, who was at the height of his power when the PPP was formed.
