KARACHI: The Karachi Development Authority has stopped illegal construction and has declared the ownership documents of Kunwer Qutbuddin, a former member National Assembly false and fabricated. Estate and Enforcement Department (E&ED) KDA after intervention has stopped the ongoing construction work on land which is around 16 acres under survey 227-230, in Korangi Township. KDA has claimed that plot of land in question has already been acquired by the entity in 1965 under Land Acquisition Act for Korangi Township. The Board of Revenue (BoR) Sindh had also handed over the said land to KDA on completion of necessary legal formalities. KDA officials have maintained that the documents of Qutbuddin have been prepared falsely. KDA has also informed the Director General Sindh Building Control Authority, senior Director Master Plan and Executive Engineer Korangi Division KDA about the whole case. It has asked these departments to take appropriate action against Qutbuddin and to keep an eye ensuring no construction activity being started on the said plot. When the staff of E&ED KDA reached the site, persons involved in the construction work informed them that they were busy building -Rajpoot Poultry Farm, whose owner is Qutbuddin. E&ED KDA officials also revealed that Qutbuddin with connivance of Survey Superintendent Karachi also produced forged documents of 10 acres of land under a false survey 392 and 393 in Deh Pihai. The original number of plot is X-I and W-II and Karachi Cooperative Farming Society is its owner under allotment by BoR in 1994. Another land scam engineered by Qutbuddin during 1995 came into light, when 16 acres of land in ST-6 and 7 in sector 8 F Korangi had been given to a British investor company in 1999 for construction a factory. During construction, KDA officials on information had informed the company that the land in question has been earmarked for a school and playground. The company along with Qutbuddin had gone to Sindh High Court on this issue under suit-794/1999. The SHC upheld the stand of KDA with the remarks that investment company should be compensated with another plot and dismissed the case on the merit after hearing it for three years . However SHC ordered concerned authorities to take action against Qutbuddin on his forge act. The investor latter left the country dejected. Additional Director Land Acquisition KDA has remarked that timely action against Qutbuddin could have saved us from embarrassment on British investors matter besides lingering Qutbuddin’s land scams.
