RAWALPINDI: The PTI has evolved a strategy to stage its sit-in in Islamabad and lock down the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on November 2.
Special targets have been assigned to party workers under different options under which a decision has been taken to lock down the twin cities completely and jam the routine activities of life.
However more planning in this regard would be given a final shape keeping in view the participation of the people and their sentiments during the October 28 Lal Haveli Rawalpindi public meeting. All the PTI members of the National Assembly and the provincial assemblies and the local leadership have been included in the committee set up under the PTI District President Haroon Hashmi.
The PTI workers from all the districts of Punjab and KPK have started arriving in Rawalpindi and Islamabad to participate in the PTI show. Special directives have been issued to the PTI Rawalpindi to make arrangements for the lodging and meals of these workers. The PTI district Rawalpindi leadership has prepared the lists of workers and local leaders who have offered to perform duties voluntarily.
Sources told Daily Times that a special target had been assigned to the PTI Rawalpindi and Islamabad leadership for locking down the twin cities.
A special budget has also been allocated for stocking food items, dry ration and water to meet the situation if the “dharna” is prolonged. Special groups of youths have also been set up for putting up resistance against police in any untoward situation during sit-in.
PTI district president Haroon Hashmi told Daily Times the police was conducting raids on the residences, markets and shops of the PTI workers and harassing them. The PTI is a peace loving party of educated persons. Protesting peacefully is the basic right of every citizen. The PTI’s November 2 sit-in would be peaceful and if the police and the administration tried to create hurdles then “our workers will not remain peaceful,” he underlined.
