ISLAMABAD: Lack of facilities, deployment of inexperienced staff and teasing female commuters by the immoral youths has turned metro bus service a perpetual source of nuisance for citizens. Sources told Daily Times that the stations built for metro bus service are wearing deserted out looks due to wear and tear. The cracks have been appeared on the paintings and tiles installed on the walls of stations. The steel chairs placed therein for the commuters have been broken. The verbal clashes between the commuters and employees have become daily routine due to inhuman treatment of staff members at bus stations. The women commuters in large number told this scribe that the spoilt youth penetrate into the portion of the female commuters deliberately during rush hours at morning and evening and start flinging indecent remarks on them. Metro security staff doesn’t take any action for preventing the male commuters from entering into female portion and sitting on their reserved seats. It has also been observed metro bus staffers are highly inexperienced and non-serious and any untoward situation can emerge any time due to their uncouth behaviour. Things like water is not available in water coolers and most of the electric water coolers are not in working condition. The buses have become breeding ground for mosquitoes and the female and children are being affected badly in the prevailing situation. Lack of cleanliness is causing diseases. The motive behind launching metro bus services seems to have been overshadowed and undermined due to frequent strikes by metro bus service staffers and violent protests by political parties and people. The blue eyed staffers have become a headache for the citizens and staffers deployed on ticket counter are highly inexperienced and lazy due to which process of issuing tickets has slowed down. The commuters have to stand in long queues for hours to obtain tickets. The commuters have demanded of the chief minister Punjab to arranger training of the employees before their induction in metro bus service so that benefit of the billion rupees projects could trickle down to common.
