The book Freedom Is Not Free is a motivational collection of writer and activist Shiv Khera. He has written a total number of sixteen books. He has authored one of the bestselling books of India ‘You can win’ as well. Both books (You can win and The freedom is not free) are aimed to motivate the readers from all across the globe, specifically subcontinent. On the cover page of the book, there appears a saying which compels the readers to go for studying the book completely; “If you are not the part of the solution then you are the problem.” A story with a great lesson was jot down on the first pages of the book which is ‘ Let’s pay it forward.’ It is simply, whenever we do a favour for someone, he/she takes no time in expressing gratitude by saying ‘Thank you’. What if we don’t accept thank you? We can as well ask for paying the help forward, can’t we? Today I help you, so, tomorrow you should be helping someone else and ask him/her to forward the help. Won’t it be a beneficial shtick for the society? Of course it will be. By the code of paying it forward, we can eradicate a number of unsolved problems in our society. I personally applied this formula in my study circle and got fruitful results. In another chapter of the book, the author discusses about the human behaviours with the children and their effects_ in either way; good or evil. We have a major problem specially in our children. They often tell lies. Who tells them to tell lies? A question which Shiv asked before he explained everything. Shiv exemplified a child in the answer of his own asked question. He says it is the primary group (family) that teaches their kids to have the steps passed of telling lies. Parents are always the role models for their children. Their each action counts and it is all because of their actions a child gets socialized to tell more and more lies. Gradually the children get converted into dishonest individuals. Practicing makes a man permanently perfect. If the practices are of loyalty, honesty, loving and caring then the child will become honest, loyal, loving and caring or else a dishonest person in future. We should think a thousand times for doing any bad and illegal activity in front of the children so that they should not be in habit of those things as the children are always the followers of their parents. The book was very much interesting and full of such motivational examples and stories which will not let the readers to be bored. I myself have gotten a bundle of ways of solving the problems I face in my daily life. And I believe everyone who will read the book, written by Shiv Khera, will be motivated and inspired to do something for the betterment of the other colleagues and even strangers. I suggest the readers to read the book at once in your life, if you await change in your life. The writer is a former teacher based in Turbat and a student at University Law College, Quetta.
