KARACHI: The Sindh government has released Rs 25 million for the public gathering announced by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to be held on Friday (today) in District Ghotki, Daily Times has learnt. The Finance Department has released Rs 25 million for security arrangements. Sources said, “The amount has been released to Home Department for security of the public gathering, which according to sources will be spent on arrangements of the jalsa.” They added that the Sindh government also spent Rs 25 million on PPP founding father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s death anniversary. A notification issued by the Finance Department said Rs 25 million had been approved for 37th death anniversary of ZAB on April 4. The PPP-led Sindh government provided the money to Larkana’s district administration in this regard. Bhutto was hanged on April 4, 1979, in the Rawalpindi district jail. In the recent past, the Sindh government came under criticism for spending Rs 250 million on Sindh Festival, an event incorporating various cultural programmes, including film festival, fashion shows and music nights. Sindh Chief Minister’s Advisor on Information Maula Bukhsh Chandio instructed to hold a pictorial exhibition on occasion of 37th anniversary of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto from April 21 to April 4. The exhibition represented the political struggle and hardships faced by Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and PPP workers who worked for democracy.
