LAHORE: Punjab Police were proud to be the part of a force that was legatee of more than 700 martyrs who rendered numerous sacrifices for the protection of citizens and to maintain law and order across the province. Punjab Inspector General Police Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera stated this while addressing the Police Darbar held at Attock Police Lines on Saturday. The IG lauded the commitment of Attock Police for their gallantry to impede the miscreants. He said Attock Police deserved appreciation for maintaining law and order to protect the integrity of the country. The IG directed DPO Attock Zahid Nawaz Marwat to give priority to the welfare of the police officials and to ensure better hygiene conditions within the police lines by improving facilities of mess, barber shop, recreation room and gymnasium. He directed the DPO to send summary for the funds required in this matter so that it could be provided on priority basis. The IG expressed hope that Punjab Police would leave no stone unturned to ensure protection of the country and nation. DPO Attock Zahid Nawaz Marwat, in his welcome address, said ensuring the safety of lives, property and honour of the citizens was the foremost priority of the police, which was working day and night to achieve this goal. He said that brave officials of Punjab Police were thankful to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and IG Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera for taking important measures to strengthen the department to meet the challenges of the modern era and to take initiatives for welfare of the force. He said steps for upgrading pay scales of police officials, increasing financial support package to Rs 10 million for families of police martyrs and officials passed away in line of duty, induction of 13,000 new head constables and construction of monument of police martyrs proves that the Punjab government and IG were giving top priority to the welfare of the force.
