Published on: November 7, 2016 3:40 AM

ISLAMABAD: Rallies and protests were organized in federal capital on Sunday to commemorate ‘Youm e Shuhada Jammu’ to highlight the Indian aggression in Occupied Kashmir before international community.

The speakers demanded the United Nations (UN) agencies to take notice of human rights violations in Indian held Kashmir (IHK) and ensure right of self-determination in accordance of wishes of IHK people.

Two separate rallies were organized by Peace & Culture, Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference Islamabad, and Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement (JKSDM), International Human Rights Organization (IHRO) and Kashmir Beat Reporters Association (KBRA) respectively in front of National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad to pay tribute to the martyrs of Nov 6, and observe ‘Youm e Shuhada Jammu’.

Addressing the participants, Chairperson Peace and Culture, Mushaal Hussein Mullick said people were facing shortage of food and medicine in IHK due to the atrocities of Indian forces.

She said Anoop Singh and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Yasin Malik had been released but they were not being provided better health facilities. She also demanded to release Asia Andrabi.

Mushaal said the arrested people were being killed by Indian forces through giving poison in foods.

She demanded the UN to play its due role to stop violation of human rights in IHK and resolve the core dispute in accordance of its resolutions.

Meanwhile, addressing another rally, Lord Nazir Ahmed said a facts finding mission should be sent to IHK by UN agencies and international observers to view the recent atrocities of Indian forces against the people of IHK.

He demanded the British Prime Minister to raise the issue of human rights violation in IHK during her recent visit to India.

He said about ten thousands people had been injured and hundreds of them were paralyzed for life in IHK by Indian forces after the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

Lord Nazir demanded India to also release the arrested eight thousand young Kashmiris.

He said the attacks on educational institutions were being made by RAW and other intelligence agencies of India to defame the freedom movement of Kashmiri people. He said UN should play its role to ensure implementation on its resolutions to resolve the core issue of Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion Raja Najabat Hasan said thousands of Kashmiris had sacrificed their lives since years. He said the freedom movement would continue till the resolution of the core dispute in accordance of wishes of Kashmiri people.

A good number of people belonging to all walks of life and civil society attended the event, carrying placards and chanting slogans to pay homage to the martyrs of Jammu.
