
TIMERGARA: The Lower Dir forest department had so far distributed a total of 2,886,000 plants among the people of Dir under the Billion Tree Tsunami Project of the provincial government, official sources said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile 5,039,050 plants have been raised in public nurseries apart from the 145.75 million other plants that have been raised in private sector nurseries for plantation purposes.
The sources added that under the woodlot programme of the said project, the Lower Dir forest department had planted a total of 3,521,525 plants on 327 hectares of land all over the district.
To develop natural re-generation of plants and to protect old trees, so far 76 sites had been selected for ‘Closure Activities’.
