It seems as if every modern man is a Hamlet caught in a quagmire of confusion, complexities and chaos. Life takes us through many labyrinthine ways which can lead us into sticky situations. Real life relationships are like Jenga, you make one wrong decision and you lose everything. They could either turn out to be as easy as drinking a glass of water or could be as tough as finding a needle in a haystack. Such complexities may lead one to irresolvable issues and insecurities. In the life we live ‘to be or not to be’ seems to be the biggest dilemma of every modern man. Have we ever thought why is this happening? What is hindering our decision-making? What is bothering our existence? Why has happiness become an unattainable dream? As the technology upgrades people do too, bringing along its own vice and virtue. With its numerous upsides, modernisation opens up portals of uncanny betrayals, sins and lies. Human nature knows no boundaries to achieve the much cherished worldly desires and over-fulfilment of these desires subsequently leads to frustration, restlessness and anxiety. A person might seem perfect from the outside but if u try to see through him he is just an average mortal trying to fit in with the society while dodging his fears. By giving one glance, one can never assess what he’s feeling as we cannot judge a book by its cover unless we know all the facts. We might never know his challenges and fail to understand the vicious circle he’s so gravely caught in which ultimately drives him to the point of paranoia. For such a person overthinking becomes a habit and brooding becomes a lifestyle thereby making him confused and indecisive. Hamlet, one of Shakespeare’s most popular tragic heroes, perfectly embodies today’s man and the complexities he goes through. He is constantly battling with the inner demons and the catastrophes within which is termed as depression in the modern context and this depression is the basic hindrance in our productivity which prevents us from planning and reaching decisions.
