‘Dobara Phir Se’ is directed by the iconic filmmaker MehreenJabbar and she along with a relatively inexperienced cast has produced a masterpiece.
Mehreen Jabbar has subtly raised a few common issues of our society in this concoction, particularly highlighting the marriage of females at a very young age. The age at which they are naive and not ready to take on the responsibilities of a married life, women empowerment and happiness! The message of the movie is very clear that a person’s life is his/her own and to give happiness to others, he/she needs to be happy themselves.
Ali Kazmi and Tooba Siddiqui mark their film debut with this one. Hareem Farooq, Sanam Saeed, Adil Hussain and Shaz Khan have played their roles superbly. Child star Moosa Khan was an important character who has also played his role expressively. Veteran actress Atiqa Odho has also played her part with sheer grace.
Before ‘Dobara Phir Se’ Hareem Farooq and Sanam Saeed also worked together in drama serial ‘Dyar-e-Dil’ and now they are back again to enthral the audience with their eloquent performances.
The sound and camera quality of the movie is in stark contrast to all other Pakistani movies. The high quality of sound and superb cinematography is only possible because of the high-tech equipment used in the making of this film
Hareem Farooq was the central figure of ‘Dobara Phir Se’, as the whole movie revolved around her. Hareem’s facial expressions seem to be more powerful than her dialogue delivery. Hareem Farooq is a good addition to Pakistan’s cinema industry and her initial performances indicate that she will be a successful star of Pakistani cinema. This should also be brought into spotlight that even though it was Tooba Siddiqui’s first movie but her acting was flawless, as the girl who sacrificed her love for her friend’s happiness.
Ali Kazmi and Sanam Saeed also performed well. Although Ali’s role was more towards the fun side but he was able to prove that he possesses all the ingredients needed to succeed at this level.
Three of songs from the movie, “Hum Chaley”, “Largayan” and “Rasta Tham Gaya” were placed very appropriately.
“Largayan” can be a good addition in the list of songs people play during mehndi functions.
The story of the film comes across a bit weak but the director and her team presented it in such a way that it keeps the viewer engrossed for the whole duration.
