Fruit sellers took to the streets in protest against price control magistrates over unauthorized fines and unnecessary arrests. The protesters blocked the roads in Nankana Sahib and shouted slogans against price control magistrates. The reason for this protest they claimed was that fruit and vegetable rates set in Nankana city were lower as compared to smaller towns in the district and price control magistrates were imposing huge fines on small shopkeepers just to show their efficiency. It was also claimed that the magistrates themselves did not even visit the shops to investigate but sent their clerks or junior staff members, who are imposing heavy fines without further investigation.
