The nurses of Sindh, under the banner of Sindh Nurses Alliance, staged a protest demonstration and boycotted their duties on Thursday against failure of Sindh health department to implement written agreement with them. Scores of nurses, led by central leader of Sindh Nurses Alliance Ejaz Ali Kaleri, Heera Lal, Atta Hussain Rajper and others demonstrated and held a sit-in in front of Karachi Press Club to remind the provincial regime about its bilateral agreement. The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans like: approve health professional allowance for nurses, create new nurses’ posts, promote nurses with four-tier formula, raise students’ stipend and DDO powers for principals. The nurses of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Jamshoro, Shikarpur, Mithi, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Badin, Kashmor, Dadu and other cities and towns also boycotted their duties in the protest. Sindh Nurses Alliance Ejaz Ali Kaleri, while talking to PPI, said Sindh health department had failed to implement written agreement signed between Secretary Health Sindh and representatives of nurses about two months ago.
