As much as we enjoy summer, the season makes us suffer too owing to the extreme weather especially in June. However, these summer drinks are perfect to bust all the exhaustion that the season brings with it and makes it bearable. Let us start with the most famous desi drink that is Lassi, made with yogurt and a pinch of salt. Lassi is the most rejuvenating drink in this extreme weather. The sodium helps us to maintain our blood pressure as we lose so much sodium while sweating. So Lassi is the best way to keep it maintained. In the same way, summer and lemonade has a connection since centuries-the time when there was no sense of juice and soft drinks, lemonade was the only way of refreshing our bodies during summers. Take 2 spoons of lemon water and mix them up with 1/2 tsp of salt, stir it well and beat the heat. Want to taste heaven even in hell-extreme summer? Befriend with watermelon juice. It energizes your body and keeps it cool throughout the day. Watermelons have approximately 92 percent of water in them. The pinky fleshy fruit contains many vitamins such as vitamin A and C. Who doesn’t crave for a big cup of ice-cold rosy Rooh Afza in summer? When summer comes in, Rooh e Afza is the first sip of hundreds of Pakistanis. It brings instant coolness to us and tastes like heaven. Cucumber is undoubtedly a cooler in the summer season. It has the highest rate of water among the vegetables. When summer turns you lazy, take a long breathe and make it easy with a glass of cucumber juice. Blend some slices of cucumber, a little bit of lemon juice, mint leaves, water and sugar or salt up to your own preference. The fruit stalls throughout the country are brimming with sugarcane juice and nothing will hydrate you more than the soothing juice of sugar when the sun is shining so strong. Mango-the king of fruits is another relaxing therapy of beating heat along with its heavenly taste and countless nutritional values. Blend some chunks of mango; add milk and little water along with condensed milk and sugar. This juicy smoothie of mango will keep you supercharged for the complete day. Temperature is rising up and ‘Ellaichi ka sharbat’ is calling you down to taste its freshness. Ellaichi ka sharbat is one of the most popular Pakistani drinks which is so energising and refreshing as the green cardamom sugar and lemons gives it a very authentic taste. Ellaichi is intensely cool and if you want to be cool, go for Ellaichi. Sardai-is yet another yummy and freezy drink to have in summer while juggling with sweats and heat. It is prepared from a variety of dry fruits like almonds, poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, watermelon seeds and pumpkin seeds. Grind all these ingredients with hands and blend them into water and sugar.
